POTENTIAL FOR LEADERSHIP

(General Fidel Ramos, 4 Star General, President of the Philippines 1992-1998)

Every person born has the potential to become a great leader.  Whether it is in the secular world, or in the spiritual world.  The Bible says, "Many are called, few chosen."  Matthew 22:14.

Have you ever wondered why that is?  When men and women are enlisted into the Armed Forces they go through vigorous grueling training.  Most do pass basic training, but there are some that do not and have to wash out.

After that comes vigorous testing, placement, promotion and advancement.   This is were most soldiers end up.  But what's next after that?

Some are chosen to go through advanced specialize training to become a Navy Seal or Army Special Forces.  That kind of training is so difficult probably less than 20% make it.  

Final training to become a general is facing battles.  Small battles, big battles and war.  

As God's leaders, should we not have to go through that same kind of training?

President Fidel Ramos, one of the great generals in modern day Philippines rose to the position of Four Stars and then President of his nation.  As a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy, he said their first assignment was in Mindanao, Southern Philippines where most new soldiers are tested to the max fighting rebels, anti government groups etc.  It is said that Mindanao is "the Land of Rebel Violence."   Mindanao also happens to be one of the most beautiful scenic islands in the Philippines.

Many of young officers and soldiers barely make it back, but if they do, they rise in the ranks.  When we asked General Ramos what is his take on leadership he simply replied, "Sharing, Caring and Daring."

Today, as God's Leaders, we need to embrace that motto as well, "Sharing, Caring and Daring,"  

Sharing the good news of the Gospel.

Caring for the flock of God whom He sends to us.

Daring to stand for Biblical Principles and be a light to a darkened world.

This is why many are called, but few chosen.  Let's be one of the chosen, one of the special forces used to impact the World for Christ.
